Job Description

The Senior Video Producer is responsible for helping develop and execute the production/editing standards for Local Now. She/he will incorporate a distinctive approach to writing, editing and producing content while adhering to defined editorial and journalistic standards. The emphasis will be developing a compelling visual voice and style that’s easily scalable across news and feature segments.

  • Research and easily articulate stories on a broad range of topics; Write, edit and voice content daily, with occasional support of video production as needed.
  • Strong interview skills; able to communicate and find experts on various subjects.
  • Create templates to allow efficient replication of approved concepts.
  • Guide/mentor writer-producers on curating, researching, writing and sourcing stories.
  • Guide/mentor associate producers on editing video, packages, special projects, shooting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Work well under pressure, within a team environment and have the ability to think outside-the-box when it comes to creating video content.
  • Able to apply critical and strategic thinking, handle stress, be quick-thinking and accurate.
  • Work with producers, associate producers and management to execute cross-platform coverage of major news coverage, breaking events and feature segments.
  • Must have a knowledge of social media and understand what drives users to engage with Local Now’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, TV/Web production or related subject preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience producing digital content at a major news network or online news publication.
  • Must have expert level experience with all aspects of digital video production.
  • Proven knowledge of online production and multimedia storytelling, online publishing systems and technologies.
