What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):

• Review, analyze, and interpret clinical documentation to apply appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding
• Verify CAC codes and ensure diagnostic and procedure codes are supported by clinical documentation
• Communicate effectively with physicians and allied health personnel regarding documentation needs
• Discuss optimization and documentation issues with physicians to ensure accurate coding and reimbursement
• Apply various coding systems while understanding their impact on clinical quality and reimbursement

What is Required (Qualifications):

• High school diploma and two years of coding education (medical coding certificate program or 2-year HIM program)
• Minimum of five (5) years of inpatient hospital coding experience, including specialized coding skills
• Certification required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and pathophysiology
• Thorough understanding of Official Coding Guidelines and medical necessity

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

• Experience in specialized coding areas such as cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, and trauma surgery
• Leadership experience or mentorship capabilities within a coding team
