Leave-Replacement Position
Computer Technician

A temporary Computer Technician is needed to support the district's Technology Department.  The position is temporary and anticipated to be available through November 5, 2025.  The successful candiate will assist the Coordinator of Technology with tasks related to district technology needs.  


Compensation: $60,000 per year (prorated) plus health benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical certification required, computer science degree preferred.
  2. Knowledge of various platforms deployed throughout the organization including Mac, Windows, Google, iOS and Chrome OS.
  3. Possess technical certification and/or technical degree; Microsoft, Apple, and/or Cisco certification(s) preferred.
  4. Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hardware, software, peripheral devices and identify network issues.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge of computer networks, enterprise systems, and system integration.
  6. Ability to resolve issues using remote technologies.
  7. Demonstrates professionalism.
  8. Willingly acts as a resource to the Technology Department and cooperates with building staff and other departments. 
  9. Ability to learn and apply new technologies as required.
  10. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  11. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a diverse and dynamic work environment.
  12. Experience in an educational setting preferred.
  13. Exceptional writing, oral, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  14. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and procedures.
  15. Required criminal history check and proof of US citizenship or legal alien status.
  16. Such alternative or additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board of Education may deem appropriate.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES

The Computer Technician reports to the Coordinator of Technology.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY

The Computer Technician shall maintain line and staff authority in accordance with the Board of Education approved District Organizational Chart.

JOB GOAL

The Computer Technician, in accordance with Board policy and New Jersey Statute and guided by the Board-approved curriculum and goals as well as the administrative rules of the Superintendent and the Coordinator of Technology is responsible for supporting the needs of the Technology Department.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Twelve-month individual contract.  Eligible for Benefits.  District-Wide and Central Office Non-Instructional Personnel.

PERSONAL EVALUATION

The Computer Technician shall be evaluated in writing in line with state requirements and Board of Education policy and regulation by the Coordinator of Technology at least once each year.  The evaluation shall be based in part on the performance of the responsibilities indicated in this position description. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities
  1. Responds to help desk tickets as outlined by the Coordinator of Technology.
  2. Provides on-site support in various locations when needed.
  3. Provides professional development to staff on access to integrated systems.
  4. Maintains technology certifications as needed to support the district’s needs.
  5. Performs hardware repairs and software/system upgrades as needed and appropriate.
  6. Communicates with staff regarding upgrades and new initiatives.
  7. Performs projects as assigned by Coordinator of Technology.
  8. Provides administrative support for software and hardware decisions and integrations.
  9. Maintains current system integrations and implements additional as identified and approved; these include but are not limited to Genesis, ClassLink, LinkIt!, MajorClarity, SORA, IEPDirect, and other programs as needed. 
  10. Manages print servers and software as needed.
  11. Participates in professional development and technical training as necessary to maintain and upgrade skills.
  12. Participate in Board of Education Committee and Board Meetings as requested.
  13. Availability outside of normal business hours including evenings and weekends based on the needs of the district
  14. Driver’s license and mode of transportation for travel throughout the district as needed
Other Duties
  1. Maintains confidentiality in all areas of the assignment.
  2. Adheres to all district policies and regulations.
  3. Assumes other duties and responsibilities incidental to the office or as assigned by the Coordinator of technology, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, or Superintendent of Schools.

  • Frequent and regular repetitive movements required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Physical lifting and moving of items up to 40 pounds.
