We’re seeking a seasoned HR Business Partner with strong union experience to join a respected and growing organization based in Portland, OR. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary of $100,000–$115,000, comprehensive medical benefits, and generous PTO starting on day one. If you're ready to lead a team, partner with leadership, and drive impactful HR strategies in a unionized environment—this is the opportunity for you.

As an HR Business Partner, you’ll serve as a strategic advisor to both employees and leadership, playing a key role in shaping the employee experience and supporting business goals. You’ll lead labor relations initiatives, provide guidance on contract interpretation, and work collaboratively with union partners to foster a respectful and compliant work environment. This role requires deep experience navigating union dynamics and a proactive approach to employee support.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on HR-related matters, including employee relations, performance management, and organizational development
  • Support and guide union-related activities, including contract interpretation, grievance resolution, and labor-management discussions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement HR initiatives that align with organizational goals and values
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and compliance with collective bargaining agreements and employment laws
  • Provide coaching and support to managers on employee engagement, development, and performance
  • Assist in executing workforce planning, succession planning, and change management initiatives

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 2 years in an HR Business Partner or similar advisory role
  • Direct experience working in union environments—comfortable interpreting CBAs, supporting grievance processes, and partnering with labor representatives
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and employee relations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization
  • Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, public sector, or similarly complex, regulated industries is a plus
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for supporting both employees and business goals
