BCForward is currently seeking a highly motivated Gameplay Designer for an opportunity with our client
Role: Gameplay Designer
Location : Redmond, WA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Typical Day in the Role
• Years of Experience Required: 10+ years working as a level designer with at least 1 title of shipped that showcases combat/encounter design and scripting experience on a first-person/third-person shooter title.
“The ideal candidate has experience building Halo campaign experiences with Halo tools and scripting languages”.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience creating encounters and campaign events using a text based scripting language (HaloScript, C#, LUA, UnityScript, etc.).
- Writing communication/documentation Deep understanding of gameplay and level design theories and practices.
- Minimum 5 years experience with using game editing software (Unreal, Unity, Frostbite, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Finalize encounters, scripting, and design of ship quality levels built on the foundation of existing levels.
- Build gameplay moments such as combat encounters, vignettes, and interactive narrative sequences.
- Author and review level design documentation.
- Play test and iterate on level content to ensure delivery at the highest quality.
- Partner with other level designers to maintain a positive productive working atmosphere.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with all development functions and teams to ensure a best-in-industry production process, player experience, and team environment.
- Work closely with the art and engineering team to ensure level metrics, budgets, performance targets, and visual targets are met.
- Write re-useable, readable level scripts that can be handed off and shared with any other designer
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- 10+ years working as a level designer with at least 1 title of shipped that showcases combat/encounter design and scripting experience on a first-person/third-person shooter title.
- Deep understanding of gameplay and level design theories and practices.
- Highly proficient in using game editing software (Unreal, Unity, Frostbite, etc.).
- Experience creating encounters and campaign events using a text based scripting language (HaloScript, C#, LUA, UnityScript, etc.).
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Passion and knowledge of Halo encounter and campaign design.
