Position Summary
Investigate financial crimes, providing detailed financial analysis and supporting law enforcement in criminal investigations that involve financial misconduct, fraud, or other financial crimes.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, forensic accounting, or related field; and
Three (3) years of forensic auditing, financial analysis, accounting, or conducting fraud investigations experience.
Experience auditing criminal investigations preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: :
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
Principles and practice or financial fraud schemes, money laundering, and criminal accounting.
Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers
Principles and practices of operational and financial auditing
Principles and practices of accounting and financial record keeping
Forensic analytics of electronic data used to reconstruct or detect financial fraud
Investigative processes and legal standards for evidence handling
Methods and techniques of research, data collection and analysis
Rules and procedures of providing expert testimony in court
Principles of technical report writing and grammar
Utilizing computer-based accounting systems
Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities Analyze financial data, identify irregularities, and understand complex financial transactions.
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws and regulations
Communicate clearly and concisely
Prepare clear, concise, and complete records
Utilize financial management software and tools for forensic analysis
Reconstruct books and records that have been destroyed or falsified
Effectively explain complex accounting and financial concepts to laypersons
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
